With undergraduate research opportunities in fields such as health engineering, climate and sustainability, machine learning, artificial intelligence, games, human-computer interaction, materials, devices, instruments, computing, and engineering math, Baskin School of Engineering is a leader in hands-on, cutting-edge research.

Undergraduates have many research opportunities, including at the world-renowned UC Santa Cruz Genomics Institute, where biomedical engineers first assembled and recently completed the human genome. The school’s computer game design major is ranked nationally in the top 10 undergraduate degree programs, and students work closely with faculty on advances in cyber-physical systems, security, and artificial intelligence. The school is committed to inclusive excellence, with innovative efforts in place to support its diverse students.
