The University of California Leadership Excellence through Advanced Degrees (UC LEADS) program is designed to engage and educate California’s future leaders by preparing promising students for advanced education in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM). UC LEADS is designed to identify upper-division undergraduate students with the potential to succeed in these disciplines, but who have experienced situations or conditions that have adversely impacted their advancement in their field of study.
Must be interested in pursuing a Ph.D. degree after the bachelor’s degree Must be a U.S. citizen or permanent resident eligible for work in the U.S. Some upper-division biology or chemistry coursework experience is desirable but not required. Underrepresented students and those who have overcome socioeconomic hardships are strongly encouraged to apply.
